The
Learning Management System (LMS) is an online platform that facilitates
connection between teacher and students offering effortless way of sharing
resources, activities and providing gateway to engage students even after
classroom hours. Almarashdeh (2010) defines LMS as a useful platform that can
be utilized for distributing materials at a distance. The LMS is a technology
that is based on web which includes solution for managing, planning learning
events in educational organization (Alias, 2005). By the help of LMS not only
teaching process gets productive and easy, but also learning process for
students get engaging. Furthermore, students become the owner of their learning
process as the students become more autonomous leaners.
Many
LMSs are gaining popularity around the world. For instance,
· Moodle
· Drupal
These
LMS are gaining popularity among educational organizations around the world.
Each of them has their special features that makes them different form others.
Pallof and Pratt state that “the online classroom is a potentially powerful
teaching and learning arena in which new practices and new relationships can
make significant contributions to learning” (2002, p26).
In Uzbekistan local universities used Moodle
in quarantine times that was developed in 2001. This platform based on the
social constructionist principle and it was user friendly, accessible, flexible
(Kasim,2016). But 2 years later higher educational universities changed the
platform they work on into Hemis. This LMS is also very popular all around the
world as it is convenient. Nevertheless, if anyone wants to use them to create
their course the fee should be paid after 1 month later for both of these
platforms.
To
create our course we have been chosen Google classroom. It works on all browsers,
devices and students can take part in discussions, submit assignments, all of
them in one place. Google classroom is available for anyone who has Gmail or
Google account. The most exciting aspect of this platform is that it is totally
free.
By using Google’s learning management system
teacher and also learner get their work easier since this system boost
collaboration, foster communication and streams assignments. Furthermore,
students can organize their piece of writing on Google Drive automatically,
complete, hand it in and communicate with their teacher and groupmates. A good
LMS should create cooperative learning environment before and after teaching
process which enables students to oversee the pace of their learning, allow the
learners tracking their progress (Watson et all., 2007).
